Zayrish Nanay – The little Girl born without a Gullet
After a long search for donations and other sponsors for the operation of little Zayrish Nanay, 3, born without a gullet; finally today Zayrish and her Mama left from Cagayan de Oro City for Manila. Here Zayrish will have an operation, done by Dr. Reganion of the National Children’s Hospital in Quezon City. The family and friends of little Zayrish are thankful to the German A.S.E. – Assossiation for Schools and Education in the Philippines in the German city of Aachen who got knowledge of the problem little Zayrish was born with and began to look to rise the needed money for this operation.
In the end the German Foundation “AWD Stiftung Kinderhilfe” shouldered the whole amount of Pesos 350,000 for this operation.
The German Assossiation “vision4help” took over to organize and go between of foundation and hospital in Manila.
Today, around 6 am, they showed up at my house on their way to the airport so I coul accompany them. Here we have Mama and little Zayrish.
Taifun “Parma” kostete rund 300 Menschen das Leben, “Ketsana/Ondoy” in der Hauptstadt Manila kostete ca. 340 Menschenleben. Viele Tote werden noch unter Geröll und Schlamm begraben sein. Die Zahl der Todesopfer wird sich also noch erhöhen. Viele Gebiete sind noch immer von der Außenwelt abgeschnitten. Eine positive Nachricht kam aus der Provinz Benguet: Helfer konnten dort sechs Überlebende aus den Schlammassen befreien.
Innerhalb von zwei Wochen sind über vier Millionen Menschen auf den Philippinen durch die Katastrophen direkt oder indirekt betroffen. Viele sitzen noch immer unter absolut menschenunwürdigen Umständen in ihren teilweise zerstörten Häusern oder unter den Trümmern fest. Knapp 300 000 leben in Notunterkünften. Die Gesundheitsbehörde fürchtet nun den Ausbruch von Krankheiten und einsetzende Seuchen.

Yesterday, 26 September, typhoon Ondoy brought tons of rains to Metrro
Manila, some parts of southern tagalog and central luzon. Water in our
area in Roxas, Quezon City was three stories high; whole families had to
get-up their roofs for safety where they had to be rescued. In Sitio
Veterans, Brgy Silangan, four houses were swept away by the raging
waters from the river. Whole families were inside the houses; so far 50
bodies have already been recovered, many of whom were children. Our
members are helping find some of those who are still lost. In one of
our areas in Muntinlupa, the overflowing lake and river drove people out
of their homes; some were carried away of the current. So far, three
children are still missing.
Even some of our staff have been affected. Water reached up to the
ceiling of the second floor of the house of Obeth, the coordinator of
our services department. The family of louie, our nurse, was forced out
their house by the fast rising water that reached to the ceiling of
their home. The water rose in seconds so they had to leave hurriedly
with only the clothes on their back. All are badly in need of food,
drinking water, blankets, clothing and even candles.
We are still awaiting more reports from our chapters. But more than a
hundred families from our areas have sought shelter outside their homes.

Nur eine knappe Woche nach „Ondoy“ wurden die Nord-Philippinen (Insel Luzon) durch "Parma" erneut durchgerüttelt. Mit Wind- geschwindigkeiten von rund 175 Kilometern pro Stunde fegte er über die Insel. Rund 16 Personen ließen ihr Leben, durch Erdrutsche und Überflutungen. Diese Zahl kann noch steigen, weil längst noch nicht alle Bezirke ihre Schadensmeldungen abgegeben haben.
Polizeiangaben zu folge kam in der Provinz Benguet eine fünfköpfige Familie ums Leben. Ihr Haus fiel einem Erdrutsch zum Opfer. Ein vergleichbarer Zwischenfall in einem Dorf in der Nähe kostete sieben Menschen das Leben. Am Fluss Cagayan wurden 14Dörfer dermassen stark überflutet, dass die Bewohner nur noch auf den Dächern ihrer Häuser Zuflucht suchen konnten. So meldete der Bürgermeister der
Stadt Aparri, Ismael Tumaru, es der Nachrichtenagentur Associated Press über ein Handy. Laut philippinischer Katastrophenschutzbehörde waren am Sonntag, dem 4.
Oktober, gegen 16:00 Uhr Ortszeit noch rund 150.700 Personen in knapp 500 Gemeinden wegen des Taifuns evakuiert. Über 300.000 Menschen befanden sich noch
infolge der Auswirkungen durch "Ondoy" in Notunterkünften. Dieser Sturm vor knapp einer Woche den Großraum Manila in Mitleidenschaft gezogen und ca. 288 Menschenleben gefordert. 42 Bewohner der Philippinen werden aufgrund des früheren Sturmes noch immer vermisst. Viele Bereiche Manilas sowie
Teile des Ostens von Luzon sind noch immer überschwemmt.
